Our Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is a wonderful expression of the classic Bordeaux varietal, and comes from our own estate vineyards in the heart of Rutherford, comprised of thicker and heavier adobe soils with small amounts of gravel which are perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The ideal growing conditions in the vineyard allow our Bordeaux varietals to reach full maturity on the vine without taking on the green, leafy taste of under-ripe fruit.

Tasting Notes

This wine is classic, yet offers a special decadence. The nose sparks interest with tomato leaf and olive tapenade over classic cinnamon, dark cherry, and chocolate aromas. On the palate, elegant entry and velvety layers of blueberry and blackberry are complemented by graham cracker and a firm, refined finish. This wine is well-suited to a spaghetti bolognese dinner.

went through 100% malolactic fermentation and aged for 18 months in 48% new French oak before going into bottle on July 12, 2023. The Foley Johnson 2022 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our own estate vineyards in the heart of Rutherford, comprised of thicker and heavier adobe soils with small amounts of gravel which are perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The ideal growing conditions in the vineyard allow our Bordeaux varietals to reach full maturity on the vine without taking on the green, leafy taste of under-ripe fruit. After harvest, the grapes were destemmed and underwent a 2-day cold soak in stainless steel tanks. The wine was pumped over daily during fermentation and then pressed and racked to barrel where it completed malolactic fermentation and 18 months of aging in 35% new French oak.
